Segal & Morel

Built with energy-efficient systems and measures, a Segal and Morel ENERGY STAR Home is certified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to be typically 20-30% more energy efficient than a standard home. That means you'll enjoy greater year-round comfort, quality, and savings on your energy bills for years to come.

The ENERGY STAR Homes program is part of the larger EPA ENERGY STAR program developed to promote energy-wise products and programs that help consumers save money while protecting the environment.

Segal and Morel ENERGY STAR Homes is committed to providing its' customers with energy efficient homes that are responsibly built to a higher standard, are "Green" and will provide exceptional comfort in all seasons. Segal and Morel has partnered with the EPA, electric and gas utilities to bring ENERGY STAR Homes to new homeowners.

To receive certification as an ENERGY STAR Home, a home must meet strict guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. One of these guidelines is the Home Energy Rating. A home energy rating involves an analysis of a home's construction plans and onsite inspections. Based on the home's plans, the Home Energy Rater uses an energy efficiency software package to perform an energy analysis of the home's design. This analysis yields a projected, pre-construction HERS Index. The HERS Index is a scoring system established by the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) in which a home built to the specifications of the HERS Reference Home (based on the 2006 International Energy Conservation Code) scores a HERS Index of 100, while a net zero energy home scores a HERS Index of 0. The lower a home's HERS Index, the more energy efficient it is in comparison to the HERS Reference Home. A maximum index rating of 85 is required to meet Energy Star Standards. In order to ensure a home meets this rating, an independent representative works with Segal and Morel to select and verify the appropriate mix of energy-efficient upgrades and to ensure proper building practices are followed. In addition, inspections are performed once the home is completed to check out all systems and certify your home as a Segal and Morel ENERGY STAR home.
